Mind, Body and Soul

FINDING BALANCE
By Jennifer Jones

It’s no surprise that most of us are overworked, overwhelmed and overstressed. Fortunately, a vacation can help relieve stress, prevent heart disease, improve productivity, and aid towards a better night’s sleep. With that said, it just may be time to rejuvenate your mind, body and soul by escaping somewhere that’s worlds away from the everyday. Here are a few inspired suggestions:

There’s a good reason American author Elizabeth Gilbert visited Bali in her memoir Eat Pray Love. The moment the plane lands in Bali, you will sense a peaceful energy. With over 50,000 Hindu temples on less than 2,300 square miles, Bali is home to many colorful ceremonies and rituals. Daily yoga, meditation, prayers, and holistic medicine are an everyday part of the Balinese way of life. Looking to relax even more? The spa culture in Bali is second to none with an abundance of tranquil day spas.

For somewhere closer to home, consider Sedona, Arizona. Sedona is not only over-the-top beautiful, but it makes for a great getaway that’s guaranteed to refresh the soul. The many local resorts and spas are great for relaxing. Sedona is also home to many vortexes and the Native Americans considered the area to be the birthplace of their spirituality. Even skeptics can enjoy Sedona for its gorgeous red-rock buttes, steep canyon walls and pine forests, as well as its mild climate and dynamic arts community.

Rounding out the list for the best vacations for the body, mind and soul is Mykonos, Greece. The colors of the city are enough alone to put one at ease. It is not overly touristy and most people that you see around town are locals. The weather is ideal for walking to all the sights or spending a day relaxing on the island’s sun-kissed beaches.

Vacation Like You Mean It!

With so many awe-inspiring places to visit across the globe, we thought it was time to introduce you to a few favorites of ours that are certain to provide you with plenty of unforgettable memories. So get ready to start packing your bags and prepare yourself for the adventure of a lifetime!

We just love the Galapagos Islands. Here you can follow in the footsteps of Charles Darwin and experience some of the most famous islands in the world. Darwin’s experience on the Galapagos Islands greatly impacted his theory of natural selection and evolution. These remote volcanic islands can be reached via boat or plane. We recommend booking a stay aboard a small boat for an intimate experience (and we’ve got some great suggestions). Plan to spend your the days exploring the incredible wildlife that can only be found here in this unspoiled paradise.

Galapagos Islands

Next up is India. India’s most popular traveler route, the Golden Triangle, connects New Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra. The 447 mile journey will take you to India's most stunning sights. Drink genuine chai masala as you visit the Jama Masjid Mosque, Humayun's Tomb, the Amber Fort and of course the famous Taj Mahal. The best way to travel around India's Golden Triangle is by train. Catch a glimpse of rural India as you traverse through the countryside.

India

And finally, there’s Italy. Just take our advice and eat your way through this gorgeous country as you ride along and see the sites of the Italian countryside. In Rome you can indulge in the traditional plates such as spaghetti carbonara, lasagna Bolognese, and insalata caprese. Driving north to Pisa, indulge in prosciutto pizza at one of their outside pizzerias. Head East to Florence for happy hour or aperitivo. Local restaurants offer a wide selection of traditional Italian appetizers. The seafood in Venice is some of the world's finest seafood. Try the seafood linguini, one of their specialties, that is truly delightful.

Italy

Whichever adventure you choose, you are guaranteed to have the trip of a lifetime!

The Beat Goes On

The great American road trip – it’s an adventure unlike other in the world. And when you consider all the iconic places you can go just within the U.S., the list of sights, sounds, and flavors is nearly endless.

Growing up, my family would pack into our minivan every summer for a cross-country getaway, making stops along winding backroads to visit quirky roadside attractions and fill up on ice cream. I’ve never forgotten those road trips and what a blast they were. They made such an impression that they still inspire my own family’s journeys on the road, including our most recent excursion which had us dancing all the way from Nashville to Memphis to New Orleans on a musical odyssey. Of course, where there’s great music, you know there’s always great food!

MUSIC CITY

For country music lovers, there’s no other place to be than Nashville, also known as Music City. After all, it’s not only the beating heart of country music, it’s also become quite a magnet for all types of musicians and music ranging from pop and R&B to rock and bluegrass. Most importantly, this is where so many of America’s most storied musical artists recorded and launched their start.

Nashville is home of the iconic Grand Ole Opry, so plan spend a Friday or Saturday night here taking in some of the brightest new stars and legends of country music on the Opry’s classic stage. The Opry was started in 1925 when an announcer on a Nashville radio station introduced fiddle player Uncle Jimmy Thompson as the first performer on a new show called “The WSM Barn Dance.” 80 years later, the show is still going strong thanks to an ever-increasing fan base.

Music City is also home to the Country Music Hall of Fame, a museum that includes more than 2.5 million artifacts. Including among the collection are hundreds of historic musical instruments from country and bluegrass greats like Mother Maybelle Carter's Gibson L-5, Bob Wills' fiddle, Earl Scruggs's banjo, and Bill Monroe's mandolin. Of particular interest is the clothing worn by country artists like Jim Reeves's tuxedo jacket, Patsy Cline's cocktail dress, Hank Williams's Nudie suit, Johnny Cash's black suit from The Johnny Cash Show, and the famous red dress Reba McEntire wore during her performance on the 1993 CMA Awards.

When it comes to pairing great music with equally great food in Nashville, look no further than Pucketts Grocery and Live Music Venue. Along with an eclectic assortment of tables and chairs, and a diverse clientele, this Nashville institution serves a dining experience unlike any other while hosting live, local music with a huge side of Southern hospitality. On the menu are Southern favorites such as a fried green tomato BLT, slow-cooked BBQ, shrimp and grits, and more.

If you want maximize your time in Music City, consider staying a night or two. This will allow you plenty of time to experience all of Nashville’s highlights without being rushed. We’re big fans of the boutique Noelle Hotel Nashville, located downtown. This experiential hotel and creative gathering place incorporates an authentic and fun art-driven experience curated by leaders of Nashville’s thriving creative community.

ROCK ON!

Leaving Nashville, it’s time to head southwest on Interstate 40 to Memphis where along the way you can make a detour at the Loretta Lynn Ranch to experience The Coal Miner’s Daughter Museum. This 18,000-square-foot museum amasses a huge collection of personal memorabilia and awards from Loretta’s expansive career in country music along with mementos from her many beloved friends in entertainment.

Continuing on for about a three-hour drive you’ll arrive at the sprawling estate of Graceland, the home to none other than the King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis. No visit to Memphis would be complete without a stopover at Elvis Presley’s Graceland. This iconic rock and roll estate was purchased by 22-year-old Elvis on March 19, 1959 for $102,500 and is now preserved to share with the world and to help maintain Elvis’ legacy. On your tour of Graceland you’ll see the famous Jungle Room, his airplanes, and loads of memorabilia and kitsch.

Dubbed the Home of the Blues and Birthplace of Rock 'n Roll, the city of Memphis offers a rocking good time to all with an eclectic array of live music venues and foodie hotspots. And the best way to understand the importance of Memphis’ contribution to modern music is to begin your tour of the city at Sun Studio where music royalty like Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and Elvis first recorded. Started in 1950 by Sam Phillips, and located just off vibrant Beale Street in downtown Memphis, Sun Studio helped give many blues and R&B performers their big shot. Sam’s assistant, Marion Keisker, was the first to see, hear, and record Elvis’s first track.

When you’re in town, make sure to stop in at Lafayette’s Music Room. During the 1970s, Lafayette’s was the place to see live shows. The establishment helped launch the careers of music superstars Billy Joel, KISS, and Barry Manilow. Today, Lafayette’s Restaurant and Bar boasts live bands seven nights a week and serves a delectable menu inspired by Southern cuisine.

THE BIG EASY

After a good night’s rest in Memphis, be sure to get up early, grab some breakfast at Elwood’s Shack, and head directly south on I-55 for about six hours. When you arrive at New Orleans’, plan to check into the exquisite JW Marriott New Orleans, set in the historic French Quarter. As a guest you’ll experience nothing less than superb service, upscale amenities, and modern luxury. The hotel is also conveniently located with easy access to Harrah's Casino, the House of Blues, and the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. When the weather’s warm, be sure to take a dip in the hotel’s rooftop saltwater pool!

After checking in, hit up the French Quarter to grab some lunch and a cool drink (Deanie’s and Johnny’s Po-Boys are a couple of personal favorites). Trust me, you’ll need the energy before you start exploring the town on foot.

Once you start soaking up the French Quarter’s the eccentric, lively, and at times, bawdy fun atmosphere, you’ll realize there’s no other place on Earth quite like it. Things really get hopping here in the evening and keep on going until the early morning hours.

New Orleans is a city that plays to the senses from its Jazz Festival to Mardi Gras and many other music festivals too numerous to list. Jazz, brass bands, and soul music can be heard everywhere from street performances to giant concert halls to small venues like the revered Preservation Hall, home to the legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

Established in 1961, Preservation Hall has become a haven for fans of traditional jazz with its unique old-school decor and intoxicating ambiance. Situated in the heart of the French Quarter on St. Peter Street, Preservation Hall is an intimate venue with concerts over 350 nights a year.

Another local spot to catch some of the best live musical performances is the world famous Maple Leaf Bar on Oak Street in Uptown New Orleans. Here you can catch blues, funk, R&B, rock, zydeco, jazz, jam bands, and any combination thereof. Unannounced drop in celebrity artists are not uncommon (Bruce Springsteen once dropped in to jam with The Iguanas).

For a more laidback music scene, take a walk down Frenchmen Street and explore in the vibrant blocks of cafes, music clubs, and restaurants that include Snug Harbor, d.b.a. and the Spotted Cat. For an off-beat adventure, the Singing Oak is a peaceful spot with coordinated melodies from the beautiful wind chimes that hang from the giant oak located in the heart of City Park. The chimes are tuned just right for a harmonious effect that is a relaxing tinkling symphony.

And because Sunday brunch is itself an institution in the Big Easy, consider making a trip to famed Arnaud’s. Sunday brunch at Arnaud’s comes complete with a delicious Creole menu while a traveling jazz trio takes requests. For the perfect ending, order the bananas foster and watch as it is flambéed tableside. Yum!

A Modern Classic

No matter if you are setting sail on a luxury cruise or living it up in your own posh vacation villa, the islands of Greece deliver vacations thrills of epic proportions.

Rich in history, mythology, and all those colossal ancient architectural ruins, Greece is home to over 6,000 islands and islets scattered across the eastern Mediterranean. Though only about 225 of the islands are inhabited, each has its own unique character, personality, and charm, and for many, their own legends complete with magnificent cultural achievements to back them up.

CRUISING GREECE’S LEGENDARY PORTS

As you sail along the coasts of the Greek islands and into their ports, you will discover white-washed houses with contrasting cobalt-blue doors and shutters dotting the high cliffs of many of the islands. It is an impressive sight, especially around the island of Santorini, with its cliff-lined caldera that formed centuries ago in 1500 B.C., when the mouth of its proud volcano collapsed during a major eruption. It is one of the most popular of the Greek isles and can be found in the itineraries of most cruise lines.

Mykonos and Rhodes are also two of the more of the popular ports in the Greek archipelago. Rhodes, with its impressive Grand Master's Palace and the remarkable old walled fortification that surrounds the town, offers numerous walking tours and wonderful views of its many grand temples, as well as the ancient Acropolis of Rhodes. Mykonos has an adorable, windmill–topped fishing village that gained popularity as a tourist destination in the early 1960's when shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis brought Jackie Kennedy here. It soon became an exclusive playground for the rich and famous and has been a popular haven ever since for the international crowd who enjoy its many beaches and the ruins on nearby Delos Island. According to Greek mythology, Delos was the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis, the twin offspring of Zeus. It is one of the most extensive and important mythological, historical, and archaeological sites in all of Greece.

May through October is the most popular time to cruise the Mediterranean, with July and August being the busiest and hottest. Temperatures often reach beyond 90°F, so prepare accordingly. More comfortable weather prevails in the earlier and later months with temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Most ships sail round-trip between Athens, Istanbul, Rome and/or Venice and cruises range from several nights to several weeks. Itineraries often include ports in Greece as well as adjacent coastal countries including Turkey, Israel, Cyprus, and Italy. A few itineraries offer more intense visits to the Greek islands, including lesser known but wonderfully obscure gems like Kos. The birthplace of Hippocrates, Kos is a lush island with endless beaches and makes a relaxing stop amidst the vast sea of sometimes hectic ports of call.

No matter if it’s your first time cruising the Greek isles or your 20th, Oceania Cruises offers a fantastic lineup of itineraries that will introduce or reintroduce you to many of the country’s most beloved islands and neighboring countries. In fact, Oceania’s 10-day Aegean Medley voyage on board the beautiful Nautica will provide you plenty of time to explore the many islands and treasures of both Greece and Turkey. Six ports of call in Greece include Athens, Volos, Kavala/Philippi, Rhodes, Santorini, and Mykonos. In Turkey you’ll spend two days in vibrant Istanbul and a day in Ephesus, home to the largest collection of Roman ruins in the eastern Mediterranean, including the Temple of Artemis and the 24,000-seat Grand Theatre where St. Paul once preached.

Another fantastic option for those travelers wanting to experience the very best of Greece in unparalleled comfort, along with stops in neighboring Turkey, is with Regent Seven Seas Cruises and their Royal Aegean journey. On board the Seven Seas Voyager ship you’ll explore breathtaking ports of call in the lap of luxury. The gorgeous ship has been designed so guests can enjoy the outdoors as much as the indoors while they cruise. Nothing is spared on the posh Seven Seas Voyager and the level of service is outstanding. Regent’s Royal Aegean itinerary starts in Athens and ends in Istanbul. Along the way you’ll stop in Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes, Ephesus, and Lesbos.

Should you prefer the ultimate in privacy and exclusivity when it comes to cruising, Crystal Cruises has you covered with their Crystal Esprit yacht adventures that will make you feel like Hollywood royalty, in case you aren’t already. Sublime and spectacular, Crystal Esprit sails with just 62 guests in all-suite, butler-serviced luxury. On board you will savor extraordinary cuisine, friendly hospitality and an unstructured, carefree ambience while exploring boutique harbors and marquee ports. Crystal’s 7-night round-trip sailing from Athens will indulge guests with stops at the “Holy Island” of Patmos and the birthplace of Apollo on Delos. Guests will also discover the breathtaking vistas of Santorini’s Oia, indulge in Mykonos’ eternal soiree, and revel in the charming holiday retreat of Hydra.

VACATION VILLA GLAMOUR

The Greek islands offer all the ingredients of a great classical getaway: ancient ruins, idyllic coastal villages, fresh seafood, secluded beaches and coves, and the turquoise-blue waters. World-class shopping, watersports, sightseeing, and incredible beaches are just some of the activities that seduce sophisticated travelers from all over the globe.

Greece is also a country of contrasts and fusions, steeped in rich history and culture, yet brimming with modern luxuries, world-class restaurants, and decadent nightlife. For those who prefer the finer things in life, one of the best ways to experience all of this is with a luxury villa rental.
Caribbean Rhythms

With so many incredible islands, beaches, cultures, waves, and flavors to choose from, finding your perfect paradise in the Caribbean has never been easier!

Pristine, sugar-white beaches extend as far as the eye can see. Sparkling azure waters glisten, fragrant tropical gardens explode in dazzling color, and picture-perfect sunsets ignite the sky. This is the Caribbean and this where the ultimate vacation dream becomes blissful reality.

From well-known sundrenched paradises like Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, to Martinique, Eleuthera, Saba and many other lesser visited islands, there’s a Caribbean paradise to match nearly every personality and taste for adventure. No matter which islands you choose to make part of your Caribbean getaway, you’re certain to have the time of your life!

REVISITING THE CLASSICS

Jamaica’s unmistakable vibe has long been attracting travelers from across the globe. With its dramatic mountain scenery, beautiful beaches, and one-of-a-kind atmosphere, it’s no surprise the island is a popular port of call on cruise itineraries as well as for all-inclusive resort stays. Of particular interest is Montego Bay, located on the island’s north coast. Montego Bay’s many restaurants, bars, and shops are centered on the “Hip Strip,” and nearby is the white-sand Doctors Cave Beach, famous for its mineral springs that are said to have therapeutic powers. Another popular spot just east of Montego Bay is Ocho Rios, which offers a relaxed and romantic atmosphere. This lush enclave is renowned for its stunning natural setting.

Should you prefer a seemingly magical destination rich in history and filled with natural wonders, Puerto Rico has it all: world-class resorts, championship golf, 300 miles of shoreline, fabulous shops, fine dining, and a nightlife that sizzles with nightclubs and casinos. Tour Old San Juan, the historic town of Ponce, and the 400-year-old forts at San Felipe del Morro and San Cristobal. Puerto Rico offers many adventures including Riu Camuy Cave System Park, where visitors can descend into a million year old cave.

Another group of Caribbean islands that’s always a favorite are the Virgin Islands. Here travelers can experience the unique culture of the Virgin Islands through their arts, crafts, music, and more during a variety of festivals and cultural events throughout the year. Both the U.S. and British Virgin Islands provide gorgeous beaches, world-class recreational activities, fine dining, casino action and golf. Visiting just the two main towns of St. Croix will give you a glimpse of the island’s incredible history, from regal 18th and 19th-century homes in Christiansted to a tropical rainforest in Frederiksted. While in St. Thomas, climb the famous 99 Steps of Charlotte Amalie for an incomparable view of the Caribbean.

OFF-THE-BEATEN PATH ISLANDS

For a certain breed of traveler, escaping to a beautiful island in the Caribbean just isn’t enough. That’s why a growing number of die-hard serenity seekers are looking past the more popular hotspots and are making their way to many of the pristine, lesser known islands throughout the Caribbean.

Marked by a number of rich cultural influences, Martinique is colorful, tropical, and very French. Measuring in at 425 square miles, the island packs in an incredible amount of natural beauty, outdoor activities, diversions, history, shopping, and culinary adventures. The north end of the island is characterized by dense forests, rivers, and waterfalls. The center of the island transitions to the south’s geologically older landscapes of rolling hills; and the southern coast is dotted with many picturesque bays and covers. Thanks to an average temperature of 79° F, Martinique is the island of the “never-ending summer.”

Martinique’s celebrated past is not only evident in its architecture, historic monuments, and museums, but in its culinary mastery too. This is where the island truly shows off its Frenchness, coupling Caribbean influences to create inspiring dishes found nowhere else. Hotels and better-known spots have menus in English, but some smaller places do not, so it’s wise to bring along a French phrase book if you want to dine like a local. Many restaurants offer both French and Creole dishes.

If you want to stay somewhere closer to home, yet feel like you’re a world away, the island of Eleuthera is fantastic. Just a stone’s throw from Florida and about 50 miles east of Nassau, Eleuthera was the first settlement in The Bahamas, founded in 1648. Of course, the island has undergone quite a bit of change since then, but you can still find many isolated beaches where you can easily escape to a blissful world of doing absolutely nothing. Essentially a pencil-thin island, Eleuthera is over 100 miles long and only two miles wide, assuring you you’re never far from the stunning white and pink-sand beaches. The landscape’s rolling green hills, dramatic cliffs, and sea-to-sea views truly make for some breathtaking sights.

The name Eluerthera is Greek for “Freedom” a fitting name for a Caribbean island that’s free from crowds, cruise ships and casinos. While the island moves at a slower pace than most visitors are accustomed to, the relaxed pace of life here, along with a varying selection of secluded villas, upscale resorts, and quaint inns, keeps visitors coming back year after year, including member of the British royal family. The island is divided between North Eleuethera and South Eleuthera. One of the most popular spots is Harbour Island on the north end, famous for its pink-tinged beaches.

Nature lovers and serenity seekers who don’t mind putting in a little extra effort in traveling should highly consider placing the island of Saba at the top of their list. Known as the “Unspoiled Queen” of the Caribbean because of its natural beauty above and below the water’s surface, Saba is a pristine island that makes visitors feel like early explorers. Located 28 miles south of St. Maarten, this small five square mile eastern Caribbean island rises nearly 3,000 feet above the sea and is cloaked in lush rainforests. Saba is the real deal for those looking for a secluded haven in peaceful and friendly surroundings. Though well versed in ecotourism, the island is relatively new to outside visitors helping it retain a low-key ambience.

The island’s brilliantly colorful coral life makes it one of the most sublime places to dive. The surrounding waters were designated as the Saba National Marine Park in 1987 and are now subject to government regulation to preserve its coral reefs and vast variety of marine life. Despite the island’s Dutch affiliation, English is the principle language spoken and the U.S. dollar is the official currency.

ALL-INCLUSIVE RESORT OR CRUISE?

Whether staying at an all-inclusive resort or traveling by cruise ship, there’s a side of the Caribbean for everyone. So no matter where you go, just make sure you remember to pack sunscreen.

For the ultimate in pampering, an all-inclusive resort getaway in the Caribbean promises a truly stress-free experience. For one flat rate, all-inclusive stays typically include meals, snacks, drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), certain activities, and accommodations. These resorts provide something for everyone, be it the relaxing sights and sounds of the surf, the feel of sand beneath your feet, fresh seafood, and plenty of activities both on and off the beach. The Caribbean is a prime vacation hot spot with loads of great beachfront resorts offering everything from all-inclusive getaway packages to luxurious long vacations.

If you prefer ever-changing views, a Caribbean cruise is a convenient way to visit multiple destinations all while enjoying the convenience of a “floating hotel.” A cruise vacation allows you to unpack once and settle into your cabin without the hassle of having to move your belongings as you generally would when you are visiting multiple destinations. The ability again to pay one flat rate maximizes just how far your vacation dollars can go, plus the price includes meals, great on-board entertainment, and much more.

Travel Health & Safety: Looking For You

Whether by land, sea or air, travel companies are going to extraordinary lengths to help globetrotters explore the world safely

Marriott Raises the Bar ON Well-being and Comfort

While the new normal may evolve and change over time to reflect government guidance and new societal expectations, travelers can enjoy peace of mind knowing that Marriott has made all the necessary precautions to provide a great guest experience, time after time.

Marriott’s commitment to keeping hotel associates, guests and customers safe is their utmost priority. The company’s recently launched Global Cleanliness Council includes experts from the field of medicine and public health to supplement the hotel’s long-standing reputation of cleanliness and hospitability.

Additionally, Marriott has developed over 200 cleaning protocols throughout each step of a guest’s journey and for every physical space in the hotel. The hotel is deploying scientifically supported practices and innovations, with a focus on specific details of the guest experience.

Along with enabling and promoting social and physical distancing practices, Marriott is reducing allowable capacities in spaces, increasing distance between furniture, and managing queueing areas. Every space at Marriott will continue to undergo deeper, more frequent cleanings. Enhanced cleaning protocols have been designed to disinfect every space, especially during peak usage. All high-touch items, like elevator buttons and escalator handrails, will also be continually disinfected. Hand sanitation stations have been added throughout the hotels, including in high-traffic areas.

Marriott has gone above and beyond to help keep guests more connected with less contact. Cell phone technology includes Mobile Key, Mobile Dining, eFolio delivery, and Mobile Requests via the Marriott Bonvoy™ app. Hybrid meetings via live-streaming are also supported.

Guests rooms will receive a deep cleaning between stays and nonessential high-touch items that cannot be disinfected will be removed. Disinfecting wipes will be provided in all accommodations. To further keep contact to a minimum, there will be limited, in-stay housekeeping frequency to reduce contact during each stay.

And when it comes to food and beverage options, Marriott has also made important changes by replacing self-service buffets with a variety of “grab and go” contactless food and beverage choices. Redesigned food and beverage station set-ups now include protective barriers and non-essential items have also been removed.

SAFE SAILING with Regent Seven Seas Cruises

To meet the needs and challenges of cruising in today’s quickly-changing world, Regent Seven Seas Cruises has developed a remarkable number of enhanced health and safety protocols. This includes working hand in hand with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and federal governments globally, to provide safe, relaxing, and fun getaways.

Passengers can relax knowing that once all of Regent’s ships have been disinfected, they are then evaluated and certified as virus-free when they re-enter service by Sabre BioResponse, the world leader in decontamination services.

Regent’s 24/7 prevention schedule features continuous disinfection of public areas and high-traffic touch points as well as daily fogging of all suites, public spaces, and guest corridors utilizing a hospital-grade oxidant that is natural, safe, and non-toxic. Guest suites will receive intensive microbial disinfection daily, which includes fogging of the entire space inclusive of bathrooms and closets.

Regent’s ships have been outfitted with upgraded HVAC systems that incorporate the latest advances. Each ship will utilize fresh-air induction and be equipped with the highest-tier HEPA 13 hospital-grade filters for all accommodations and public spaces.

Each ship will have a dedicated Public Health Officer on board who is responsible for the oversight of all sanitation and outbreak prevention initiatives. Additionally, they will maintain compliance with the CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program. Enhanced onboard medical centers are abundantly stocked with common prescription medications, remedies, and the latest virus-testing equipment.

Regent is constantly monitoring the global health map and will cancel or modify itineraries to impacted areas. The cruise line is also preventing guests and crew who have recently traveled to high-risk locations from boarding. Monitoring of staff and crew health includes testing of crew members, multiple temperature checks per day, as well as rigid sanitation and hygiene protocols.

Prior to boarding, all guests will undergo extensive health screenings. Regent has designed an enhanced, staggered embarkation and check-in process for proper social distancing that also includes a new state-of-the-art touchless temperature screening. Embarkation terminals will be sanitized continuously and terminals will be thoroughly sanitized and, where possible, fogged before and after each embarkation and debarkation.

For safe and healthy dining, no-touch food and beverage service is being implemented across all ships with service staff stationed ship-wide. Reduced seating in entertainment venues, smaller group sizes for shore excursions, culinary classes, and onboard activities, along with increased spacing in dining venues, provide for effective social distancing practices.

From check-in to baggage claim, SAFETY IS Delta’S TOP PRIORITY

By working in consensus with health experts, partners, and healthcare industry leaders on best practices, Delta Air Lines has implemented a dynamic lineup of measures to ensure a safe travel experience for all its customers.

Along with requiring customers and customer-facing employees to wear masks, social distance markers have been added throughout check-in lobbies, Delta Sky Club check-ins, at the gates, and down the jet bridges to encourage customers to stand apart. Plexiglass shields have been installed at all Delta check-in counters, in Delta Sky Clubs, and at the gate counters across the globe. Hand sanitizer stations are available in check-in lobbies, at the gates, in Delta Sky Clubs, and on all Delta-owned jet bridges.

Delta’s check-in lobbies, self-service kiosks, gate counters, and baggage claim are thoroughly wiped down continually throughout the day. Electrostatic spraying is being utilized in all of the airports Delta serves in the U.S. and has been expanded to other key locations such as Delta’s lobbies, jet bridges, and gatehouses.

Delta Sky Clubs are offering pre-packaged food similar to onboard snacks and other pre-packaged options like yogurt, breakfast energy bars, salads, hummus and pita chips, and sandwiches. Coffee, tea, soft drinks and select wine, beer and liquor remain available.

Every Delta flight is thoroughly sanitized prior to boarding using electrostatic sprayers. Following this, cleaning crews complete an extensive checklist of cleaning procedures using this same high-grade disinfectant to wipe down personal and common areas of the cabin.

The air line’s new boarding process encourages more space for safer travel by boarding all flights from back-to-front, reducing the instances of customers needing to pass by one another to reach their seats. The new process is limited to 10 customers at a time to minimize your contact with others.

All middle seats will continue to be shown as unavailable or not assignable when selecting seats via the Fly Delta app or online. The airline will also continue to block the selection of some aisle seats in aircraft with 2x2 seating configurations. The air on all aircraft is completely recirculated 10 to 30 times per hour with fresh, outside air or through industrial-grade HEPA filters, which extract more than 99.99% of particles, including viruses.

Guests can further their touchless Delta check-in procedure by downloading the Fly Delta app to access a digital boarding pass.

She’s dazzling. She’s glitzy. She’s a little campy and always over-the-top. She’s Las Vegas baby! And there’s nowhere else on Earth quite like her.

Though this fun-loving, everything goes escape has certainly expanded beyond its “what happens here stays here” reputation, it still retains its hedonistic charm, especially when it comes to food and exquisite service. From Michelin-starred restaurants to high-end buffets – if you have a palate for fine fare of nearly every imaginable kind, you’ll very likely find it here.

In fact, Las Vegas has raised the bar on haute cuisine so dramatically that it can be a challenge keeping count of the celebrity chefs in town, nor their latest oeuvre. But rather than leave your dining choices to Lady Luck, here are some of our favorite restaurants worth going all in on. And the best part? They’re all conveniently located at the beautiful Wynn Las Vegas luxury hotel and casino.

Wing Lei - Chinese

The first Chinese restaurant in North America to earn a Michelin star, this Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star winner serves Cantonese, Shanghai, and Szechuan flavors, featuring delicacies like tableside-carved Imperial Peking duck and wok-fried Maine lobster. Chef Ming Yu’s dishes are served in a lavish gold dining room inspired by classical Chinese jewel boxes, with a view of century-old pomegranate trees. Business casual attire is required and children under five are not permitted. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Casa Playa - Mexican, coastal

Casting its own distinctive spin on authentic Mexican coastal cuisine, Casa Playa features a sustainably sourced menu that merges creativity with tradition. Join the party and you will feast on chef Sarah Thompson’s ceviche, aguachile, and seafood platters, all sourced from Mexico’s Pacific coastline. Wagyu tacos and suckling pig carnitas alongside freshly house-made corn tortillas ensure the night never ends. Wynn’s expert mixologist Mariena Mercer Boarini has curated a collection of thoughtful, cutting-edge cocktails based on the spirits and produce of Mexico, while agave expert Noah Arenstein oversees the mezcal and tequila selection. Casa Playa is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 6 p.m. ‘til la noche.

Cipriani - Italian

Get ready to experience classic glamour! Since it opened as Harry’s Bar in Venice, Italy, Cipriani has expanded to New York, Hong Kong, Monte Carlo and Ibiza, and now to its first restaurant on the West Coast. Cipriani exudes timeless elegance with nautical touches, glossy walnut and chrome accents, and terrazzo floors. Look for signature classics such as the original carpaccio alla Cipriani, vanilla meringue and the iconic Bellini, invented by Giuseppe Cipriani Sr. in 1948. Open for lunch and dinner. Dress code is business casual and children under five are not permitted.

Delilah - American

Wynn Las Vegas and acclaimed global hospitality partner h.wood Group present a modern day supper club, Delilah at Wynn Las Vegas. Located in the exclusive Tower Suites enclave, Delilah at Wynn Las Vegas offers a true supper club atmosphere, inspired by the earliest showrooms of Las Vegas in the 1950s. No children under 12 allowed. After 10 p.m., 21 and over only. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Lakeside - Seafood

Lakeside at Wynn serves Hawaiian seafood that is line-caught by family fishermen in Hawaii and flown to Wynn – and served fresher than even restaurants in Maui. Surrounded by mementos and swinging music, guests dine on favorites like spaghetti and clams, or osso buco. Sit inside or dine under the stars by cozy fireplaces. Special occasion?
Hello Beautiful

Having been hidden behind the Iron Curtain until the end of the Cold War, and then embroiled in the Croatian War of Independence with Yugoslavia until 1995, Croatia has become one of the hottest travel destinations in the Mediterranean with a total of 19.6 million tourists visiting in 2019.

Croatia’s sunny Mediterranean climate and 1,104 miles of picturesque Dalmatian coastline along the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea make it a popular haven for summer vacationers. Dotted by more than 1,200 islands and islets, it’s one of the most intricately indented coastlines on the planet, and with more than 50 marinas and 1600 berths, it’s a sailor's paradise. Pristine beaches, limestone cliffs, crystal clear waters, hidden caves, beautiful coastal vineyards and olive groves, medieval harbor towns packed with Venetian-era stone buildings, and gorgeous sunsets make it one of the most beautiful shorelines in the world and the crown jewel of Croatia. Over 100 of its spectacular sand and fine pebble beaches have attained Blue Flag status for their extreme cleanliness and beauty.

The country is home to 10 UNESCO World Heritage sites and eight national parks. Its most popular national park, UNESCO-listed Plitvice Lakes, is arguably one of Europe's most breathtaking natural wonders. Located in a forested canyon, two hours from Croatia’s capital of Zagreb, its 16 emerald-blue cascading lakes are intertwined by more than 90 waterfalls, numerous caves, natural springs, and flowering meadows. The dolomite and limestone minerals in the water create distinctive, awe-inspiring colors ranging from turquoise to mint green, gray and blue, attracting visitors from all over the world. The surrounding steep forested hillsides are a haven for wildlife including wolves, bears, owls, eagles, and falcons, though they are timid so you are unlikely to see them. A network of footpaths and wooden bridges crisscross the park and the entrance fee includes both electric tram/shuttle service around the park and noiseless electric-powered boat rides across the lakes.

For history buffs, there are many intriguing, well preserved, Medieval architectural sites to behold throughout the country, including a first-century Roman amphitheater in the bustling city of Pula in Croatia’s most Italian-feeling region of Istria. Dominating the city center for thousands of years and still in use today, this ancient venue plays host to numerous music concerts, festivals, and even an annual film festival. Called the Venice of Croatia, Pula’s ancient ruins are some of Europe’s most stunning.

Heading south of Pula to the heart of the Dalmatian coastline, you will find Croatia’s second-largest city, Split. With some 180,000 residents, it offers an exciting urban experience and its seaside promenade is bustling at all hours. At the center of Split lies a massive, ancient Roman structure, Diocletian’s Palace. As the world's most complete remains of a Roman palace, it holds an outstanding place in Mediterranean, European, and world heritage. The ultimate destination for history lovers and Game of Thrones fans, this ancient site was a major filming location for the HBO show. Built by Emperor Diocletian in 305 AD and extremely well preserved, it’s an imposing walled fortress from the outside. However, stroll inside and make your way along its winding narrow cobblestone streets and centuries-old buildings and you’ll experience a beehive of activity full of small pubs, restaurants, and shops aplenty.

Game of Thrones enthusiasts will also love Dubrovnik, the walled seaside city at the southern end of the Dalmatian coast. It's Croatia's most glamorous destination, and also a UNESCO World Heritage site. While Dubrovnik’s city walls and forts became Game of Thrones’ King’s Landing, its beautiful Trsteno Arboretum on the outskirts of the city became the Red Keep’s gardens. Surrounded by 1.2 miles of thick stone medieval defensive walls, turrets and towers, the city’s famous collection of baroque buildings on marble streets make it one of the most beautiful and popular cities to visit in Europe.

The Epic And Unforgettable

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go on a world voyage? Do you yearn to circle the globe, seek out unfamiliar destinations and cultures, and then step ashore in some of the world’s most magical and adventurous destinations in search of new experiences? If so, you’re certainly not alone.

The first world cruise took place in 1891 when Canadian Pacific’s 5,920-ton Empress of India set sail on her maiden voyage carrying 770 passengers from Liverpool, England via the Suez Canal to Hong Kong, then on to Vancouver, Canada. Arriving after 79 days at sea, passengers were then transported east across Canada on its famous transcontinental railway before crossing the Atlantic Ocean by way of a transatlantic liner back to Liverpool. Within six months, two more Liverpool to Vancouver excursions took place and the world cruise was born.

It wasn’t until 1923 however, that Cunard Line became the first to fully circumnavigate the globe, thanks in part to the completion of the Panama Canal. Cunard’s 19,680-ton RMS Laconia left New York in November 1922, taking 130 days and calling at 22 ports as she made her way around the world. Inspired by this pioneering feat in ocean travel, Cunard embarks on its 2023 season with two centenary world voyages – a 105-day world cruise on Queen Victoria, and a 117-day world cruise on Queen Mary 2.

Queen Victoria will celebrate the centenary anniversary of Cunard’s inaugural World Voyage with a spectacular offering, sailing round-trip from Hamburg, Germany in January 2023. The 2014-passenger Queen Victoria will circumnavigate the globe by way of the Panama Canal with visits to 10 of the ports originally called at by RMS Laconia. Among her calls ashore, overnight stops include cities like New York, San Francisco, Honolulu, Sydney, Hong Kong, Dubai, and Singapore. Her shore-side itinerary takes in a wonderful array of UNESCO World Heritage sites including the treasures of ancient Thebes, Petra, and Pompeii. Onboard celebrations include gala balls, afternoon tea, dining reflecting each region of the world visited, and a bevy of entertainment for those luxurious days at sea.

Proving there’s plenty of room for more world cruises, Regent Seven Seas’ 700-passenger Marina offers a treasure trove of memories over its 143-night 2023 Beyond the Horizon World Cruise. Sailing 38,279 nautical miles from Miami to Barcelona, including a full transit of the Panama Canal and the navigation of three oceans, Marina visits six continents and 72 ports in the Caribbean, South America, the South Pacific, Southeast Asia, the Indian Ocean, Africa, and the Iberian Peninsula. On land, guests will have untold adventures in 42 countries and access to 48 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Experiences include wondrous Easter Island and the Maldives; viewing unforgettable wildlife in South Africa and Sri Lanka; unwinding in tropical Pago Pago and the Seychelles; and stops in iconic cities like Hong Kong, Dubai, and Cape Town. Able to traverse where the larger cruise ships can’t, overnights in 11 ports of call provide for a deeper sampling of the 356 included shore excursions available on this all-inclusive vacation.

Not to be out done, Oceania Cruises’ Around the World in 180 Days journey offers cruisers the opportunity to amass a lifetime’s worth of travel experiences in one unforgettable voyage. Oceania’s 684-passenger, small, elegant Insignia departs San Francisco in January 2023 for a round-trip excursion to the far corners of the globe. Traversing three oceans and 14 seas while visiting four continents, 33 countries, 27 islands, 96 ports, 61 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and 24 time zones, the journey is awe-inspiring and includes 20 overnight stays. Insignia’s course weaves together an exotic tapestry of South America, Africa, the United Arab Emirates, India, East and Southeast Asia, Alaska, and even the coveted pristine islands and bays of Antarctica. As a finale, Insignia will sail the legendary Bering Sea, illuminating the breadth of Alaska from the Aleutian Islands to the Inside Passage before heading back to San Francisco.

For anyone preferring an intimate, smaller ship with a private club atmosphere, Seabourn features all-inclusive, luxury cruising refined to its purest form. With one of the highest space-per-guest ratios in the industry, and youngest, most modern fleets, Seabourn offers curated voyages to all seven continents, delivering award-winning experiences by visiting hidden harbors and marquee ports. Seabourn’s 2023 World Cruise aboard Sojourn traces a tantalizing path across the globe from Miami to Barcelona, calling at 61 fascinating ports on six continents and 32 countries over 140 days, remaining overnight or lingering late in dozens of enchanting harbors. Extraordinary discoveries include a myriad of marquee cities like Lima, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Cape Town, Dakar, and Casablanca; rare South Pacific gems in French Polynesia, Fiji, Vanuatu, the Cook Islands, Tonga, Easter Island, and Papua New Guinea; as well as exotic ports of call in Western Australia, Seychelles, Cape Verde, and West Africa.

Of course, should you be one of the 900 lucky passengers on board Crystal Cruises 140-night Miami to Barcelona Wild Kingdoms & Exotic Discoveries cruise in 2023, you won’t be disappointed. On this adventure you’ll travel to 40 countries and 73 ports on board Crystal Serenity, and you will have access to 70 UNESCO World Heritage Sites on this months-long journey, including man-made wonders from the Panama Canal to the temples of Bagan and the pyramids of Giza. Exclusive themed on board and onshore events combine to make this an unforgettable travel experience with 19 overnight stays, providing more time to explore world-class destinations and stunning landscapes. From idyllic discoveries in Tahiti, the Seychelles and the Maldives, to Papua New Guinea’s eco-diversities and Africa’s Big Five safaris, this epic odyssey explores kingdoms and history as one could only dream of experiencing.

The Emerald Road

There’s nothing quite like the feeling you get when you load up the car, leave all your cares behind, and head out on the open road in search of new adventures. The freedom to explore at your leisure, cruise to your heart’s content, and stop on a whim to savor each new experience is what makes a road trip so magical. And while there are plenty of opportunities for self-guided travel across the globe, few destinations come as close to satisfying an avid trekker’s insatiable appetite more than a road trip through the Emerald Isle.

Ireland’s stunning scenery, including vast areas of unspoiled landscape and breathtaking seascapes, draws travelers from around the world and is a very good reason why it’s considered by many to be one of the most beautiful destinations on Earth. Unforgettable places such as the precipitous Cliffs of Moher, the Ring of Kerry, and Galway’s Connemara region continue to astound visitors with their majestic presence; while while unusual topographies like the karst landscape of The Burren in County Clare, and Skellig Michael, County Kerry’s coastal isle of Star Wars fame, provide a magical touch to Ireland’s enchanting allure. Add in the 30,000 or so castles scattered about the Emerald Isle, quant harbor towns, medieval villages, friendly inhabitants, and tapping to Irish traditional music while sipping the froth off a properly poured Guinness, and it’s no wonder Ireland is the ultimate setting for an unforgettable road trip.

BEHIND THE WHEEL

The Republic of Ireland offers the longest uninterrupted coastal road trip on the planet with its 1,553-mile-long Wild Atlantic Way. Skirting Ireland’s entire west coast and parts of its north and south coasts through nine counties and three provinces, the Wild Atlantic Way is a journey of a lifetime. To enjoy it fully can take two to three weeks with hundreds of reasons to stop and explore along the way. Stunning vistas, natural wonderments, deserted windswept beaches and awe-inspiring sunsets greet you in passing, while enchanting towns and seaside villages entice you to hang for a while with their enjoyable mix of shops, traditional pubs, and splendid seafood restaurants.

Doolin, in County Clare, with its thatched roof cottages, welcoming pubs, and famous Irish traditional music scene, is one of the most popular villages on the west coast. Gus O’Connor’s Pub, established here in 1832, is one of the world’s most iconic Irish pubs. Doolin is also a popular launching point for the many travelers that flock to the Cliffs of Moher each year. Though less than 15 minutes by car, the ferry service at Doolin Pier sails below the cliffs and is one of the best ways to witness their majestic rise from the ocean’s floor.

Dozens of lighthouses up and down the western coast signal days gone by when ship wrecks were aplenty. Fanad Head Lighthouse, perched at the tip of the Fanad Peninsula, is at the northern most part of Ireland and one of the world’s most beautiful lighthouses. Far to the south, near the end of Wild Atlantic Way, Fastnet Lighthouse precariously sits off the Atlantic coast, high atop remote Fastnet Rock and is Ireland’s most southern point.Like the lighthouses, towering mystic castles (dozens upon dozens of them) dot the landscape along Wild Atlantic Way. Some are tucked away, others standing in full view, tall and proud: King John’s Castle, Donegal Castle, Ashford Castle, Ross Castle, and Blarney Castle of Blarney Stone fame, just to name a few!

SHORT ON TIME?

Fortunately, for those of us with limited vacation time, shorter segments of Wild Atlantic Way hold legendary status all of their own. The most popular scenic drive in Ireland, the 111-mile Ring of Kerry, is a circular route in County Kerry that runs along the coastline of picturesque Iveragh Peninsula in south-western Ireland. A jewel of Ireland, panoramic views of the Ring or Kerry’s pristine beaches, majestic mountains, rugged and verdant coastlines, historic castles, medieval ruins, rural seaside villages, and the island-dotted Atlantic await.

Killarney National Park is hands down the top attraction of the Ring of Kerry with its miles of walking trails, sparkling lakes, thundering waterfalls, towering mountains and dense forests. Be sure to check out the park’s 15th-century Ross Castle, Muckross Abbey, as well as Muckross House and Gardens with its magnificent lakeside setting.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Before you begin your journey, keep the following tips in mind. All vehicles in Ireland travel on the left-hand side of the road. Signposts in Gaeltacht (Irish speaking) areas are written in Gaelic. Other areas are in Gaelic and English. A valid national driving license or international driving permit, third-party auto insurance, and seat belt use is required. Driving while using a cell phone or under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited, with both carrying hefty fines.

Ireland is still largely a rural country even with its many new, high-speed motorways. Rural traffic is the norm, so vigilance is key, especially around curves, to avoid slow-moving farm machinery, farm animals, and wildlife crossing the road. Last but not least, gas stations can be few and far between. Almost none offer 24/7-service, and not all accept credit cards, so keep plenty of Euros on hand and refill once your tank is half empty.

Take a Hike!

With travel on the minds of so many of us these days, it’s no surprise that we could all use some serious time away to stretch our legs and reenergize our minds. Whether it’s getting out for a day hike or spending a week out on the trail, the physical and mental health benefits of hiking are just an added bonus to witnessing Mother Nature’s own artistry.

THE MAJESTIC CANADIAN ROCKIES

As hiking and exploring national parks across the globe continues to grow in popularity, vacationers are flocking to destinations like Canada’s Banff National Park in Alberta’s Rocky Mountains. Established in 1885 as a railroad tourist destination, it’s also Canada’s oldest national park. Banff encompasses 2,564 square miles of mountainous terrain, with many glaciers and ice fields, dense coniferous forest, and alpine landscapes. With over 994 miles of maintained trails, Banff National Park offers some of the best hiking on the planet, whether an easy hike to incredible vistas or more strenuous treks deep in the backcountry.

A two-hour drive from Calgary, the park’s main commercial center is the small town of Banff, in the Bow River valley. Rushing rivers, snow-capped peaks, alpine meadows, and glacially-carved cirques make the wilderness surrounding the town a popular destination for hikers. Trails lace the Banff area, ranging from low-elevation strolls to more strenuous full-day outings that lead to some of the best alpine passes in the Canadian Rockies.

While Banff National Park might hold the title as Canada’s best hiking destination, it doesn’t hold exclusive rights throughout the North American continent. That claim remains up for debate, with plenty of competition south of the border in the western U.S.

THE WILD WEST

Southeast of Banff, some 341 miles, Glacier National Park in Montana encompasses more than 1,545 square miles in two sub-ranges of the Rockies. Called the “Crown of the Continent,” its topography, like Banff’s, includes alpine meadows, deep forests, soothing waterfalls, more than 50 glaciers, 200 sparkling lakes, 1,000 plant species, and hundreds of animal species. With over 700 miles of managed trails, it too is a hiker’s paradise. Grinnell Glacier Trail offers some of the best views of the park’s primitive and unspoiled beauty, as well as the rapidly disappearing Grinnell Glacier.

On the West Coast, California’s John Muir Trail, a 215 mile-long section of the much larger 2,653-mile Pacific Crest Trail that runs from just north of the Canadian/U.S. border to Mexico, has been described as “America’s most famous trail.” Scaling the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, passing through Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Park, it has a total elevation gain of 47,000 feet and for most of its length, the trail is in the High Sierra backcountry and wilderness areas. Passing through large swaths of alpine and high mountain scenery, John Muir Trail lies almost entirely at or above 8,000 feet in elevation. It’s panoramic, picture-postcard views are world-famous, providing a lifetime of memories.

Zion National Park in Utah, distinguished by Zion Canyon’s steep red cliffs, is one of the world's best places for canyoneering, the sport of descending slender canyons. The national park invites adventurers to lower into fantastic watery slots and river-filled canyons that range from strenuous hiking and wading to technical challenges with swimming and rappelling. Forest trails along the Virgin River lead to the Emerald Pools, with their waterfalls and a hanging garden. Also along the river, partly through deep chasms, the Zion Narrows becomes a wading hike when 600-foot canyon walls close in, making the Virgin River your only trail.

Other popular hiking trails in the western U.S. to consider include Yosemite National Park’s Half Dome Trail, the epic Lost Coast Trail in California’s King Range National Conservation Area, and South Kaibab Trail in Arizona’s Grand Canyon National Park.

WANDERN IN GERMANY

The recent boom in hiking’s popularity is not limited to North America however, with outdoor activities taking center stage around the world. In Germany, wandern (hiking) has been a passion of its people for centuries, with 68% of Germans hitting the trails in 2019. In fact, May 14th has been Germany’s National Day of Hiking since 1883. Home to 124,274 miles of sign-posted trails, from high-altitude treks in the Bavarian Alps to woodland hikes in the Black Forest, hiking has been Germany’s most popular outdoor activity for decades.

Blessed with an abundance of varied landscapes perfect for hiking, Germany boasts over 53,000 trails for hikers of all abilities. The Rheinsteig, a 193 mile, 23-stage trail, is one of Germany’s most famous. The route follows the east bank of the Rhine River from Wiesbaden to Bonn. The upper middle Rhine Valley, with its density of castles and views of steeply sloping vineyards, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2002 and the opportunity to sample from Germany’s wine-making region along the way only adds to its popularity.

Heading to Europe’s Rhine and Moselle Rivers with AmaWaterways

Two Rivers, One Unforgettable Experience

Much like the sailors who were drawn to the beauty of the folklore siren Lorelei, travelers find the powerful allure of the Rhine River and its breathtaking tributary, the Moselle, hard to resist. With so many grand cities, charming villages and breathtaking landscapes stretching along their banks, the best way to experience it all is by cruising with award-winning AmaWaterways.

Why AmaWaterways?

From the moment guests are welcomed on board by AmaWaterways’ extraordinary crew, they are enveloped in warmth and treated like esteemed members of the family. The line’s innovative river cruise ships accommodate an average of just 156 guests, offering the luxury of space and picturesque views, particularly within their signature twin-balcony staterooms, where both a French balcony and an outside balcony await. Plus, with exquisite cuisine, fine wines and included amenities such as a daily Sip & Sail cocktail hour, an onboard Wellness Program, a Michelin star-worthy multi-course tasting menu at The Chef’s Table specialty restaurant and high-quality Wi-Fi, no detail is overlooked when it comes to ensuring guests have a memorable experience.

Scenic Sailing at its Finest

Along the Rhine River, guests glide past more than 40 fairytale castles strung like pearls along the banks of Germany’s breathtaking Rhine Gorge. Within the sharp turns of the Moselle Valley, steep vineyards produce some of the world’s finest wines – and the most dramatic scenery. In spring or summer, guests can enjoy the views with a chilled glass of locally-sourced Riesling, or watch the vibrant palette of autumn colors while warming up with rich Rüdesheimer coffee.

Unique and Exclusive Included Experiences

But what would a river cruise with AmaWaterways be without a variety of included excursions and exclusive experiences to immerse guests in the history and culture on shore? On the Rhine and Moselle rivers, guests have the chance to explore up to four countries (Switzerland, Germany, France and the Netherlands) on guided hikes and bike rides, Special Interest Tours such as a visit to Rüdesheim’s mechanical musical instrument museum or a mustard tasting at a historic mill in Cochem, and city tours for all activity levels, from gentle walkers to the most active of guests.

Dock in enchanting Lahnstein to discover Lahneck Castle as part of an exclusive experience on AmaWaterways’ Enchanting Rhine cruise, or hike to the 9th-century ruins of Bernkastel’s Landshut Castle on their Rhine & Moselle Splendors itinerary. Magnificent cathedrals dominate the city skylines in Strasbourg and Cologne and impress with their high ceilings, remarkable stained glass and impressive facades. But it is AmaWaterways’ carefully selected local guides that enhance each small-group excursion with captivating stories and legends, elevating them from the rest.

When guests reserve their Rhine & Moselle river cruise with AmaWaterways, they open a storybook and fill each page with an adventure that takes their breath away.

To Travel Is To Eat!

Whether it’s tracking down technicolor macarons in Paris, the best jerked chicken of your life in Jamaica, or the most indulgent stracciatella gelato in Rome, one thing’s certain: if you want to get to know a destination and its culture, dig in and eat like a local.

A great meal has the ability to shape your travels and define the memories of your adventures. It awakens the senses and helps create an authentic, immediate connection to cultures vastly different from our own, even when least expected. Most importantly, food connects us all in some of the most profound ways, no matter if it’s sharing a kebob on a busy street in Istanbul or a decadent 10-course dinner in Manhattan.

Back at home, food has remained an uplifting source of comfort during the pandemic. Not being able to travel, we’ve turned to dishes that remind us of our favorite destinations and those we long to visit. While not quite the same, we’re reminded of travel’s importance in our lives and to dream up bigger, more meaningful adventures to come. In fact, many incredible destinations are already open and ready to satisfy your taste for adventure whenever you’re ready to head out again.
